Breck Epic stage 6

Today was gonna hurt. The last day of Breck Epic is a scorcher. The most jeep road of any stage, smooth single track and only 30 miles. Frustrated with yesterday’s stage I came to the start line today to really let it all hang loose, you know giv’r. If I didn’t cross the line blasted, something was wrong and that’s about how the day went. Two times up and over Boreas Pass will hurt, racing over it will really hurt.

The day started with Colin Cares and Lico lighting it …

Breck Epic stage 5

To put it simply, I blew it today. There are plenty of excuses I could make to myself to feel better about what happened today but really it comes down to rider error. The gun went off and ten minutes into the race the lead group at which point I was the tail end of missed one of these guys…

As the roughly eight man group took the wrong turn we all rode through a little mud puddle. The difference was that when I hit it my tire abruptly went flat. …

Breck Epic stage 4

There was no rest for the weary today. Coming on the back end of the Mt. Guyot loop, today’s Keystone loop featured climb after climb. I managed to take a digger on a high speed, pee gravel descent. The crash did nothing more than destroy a pair of shorts and cause me to be a little sore this afternoon. The racing today was tight as a group of us were together until Aid 2. After the never ending climb out of Aid 2 racers were blessed with yet another perfect …

Breck Epic stage 3

We’re going up there today.

Today’s stage was epic. I realize that word is often overused but crossing the Continental Divide twice, ripping 20 minute descents, crossing snow fields, getting lost and seeing a moose pretty much sum up my definition of epic. I gav’r today and it paid off, well kinda. As we summited French Pass I was less than a minute thirty behind the leaders. That trend continued as I kept tempo moving, then I saw a moose. Never in my life have I seen a moose that close. …

Blake’s Breck Epic stage 1

Today was a rude awakening to what lies in store over the next 5 days. As I mentioned prior, the thunderstorms have been doing work on the trail system. Heavy downpours drag away all the sand and dirt leaving behind the baby heads that prove too heavy to budge. What’s left are some burly, loose, fast and sketchy descents.

We started the day up the Boreas Pass rode via police escort under cloudy skies and cool temps. Most riders were anxious to get on trail while the select few who came …

Breck Epic-eve

Blake checks in from Breckenridge, Colorado

Well they say the third time is the charm, I hope they’re right because for the life of me I can’t seem to put it together for this one. I have paid my dues in the weeks leading up to this race, doing the big rides and sleeping in Winter Park in hopes that I can sleep and race well up here, tomorrow will tell if that worked. The trails here are amazing and as I did a little course recon today I remembered why …

Rotem defends his Israeli National Champion title!

Rotem checks in:

From Israel to Montana
One more Israel national champion title in the books! I’ve had the good fortune to earn 6 champion titles in the U23 and Elite (there’s no distinction between these categories in Israel), two in the juniors (U19) and one
in the cadets (U17). That’s 8 titles I’m proud to have earned!
This year’s nationals was in Misgav forest (Northern Israel) and is definitely one of the best mountain
biking locations in the Holy Land – it’s a big green forest with a well developed and maintained trail
network for all …

BC Bike Race wrap up

Lots to say about the BC Bike Race – its one of our favorite races of the year. Each event has its own flavor, but BCBR is all about reward – amazing trails, intense competition, and unlike some races…even if you’re having a tough go of it, you’re still racing and riding on, in my opinion, the best trails on the planet.
Race reports are a-plenty, but the team rode great – Blake Harlan taking a solid 5th overall on the solo GC, and Sager finishing 2nd on GC with 3 …
